Description
Another one of the Jonathan Rhys Meyers inspired Tarot Cards. This time, it's card II the High Priestess, represented by Brian Slade from Velvet Goldmine.

II- THE HIGH PRIESTESS - The Priestess. MOON, PEARL. Hebrew Letter -Guímel - CAMEL.
WOMAN - MISTERY, KNOWLEDGE- The Spirit that fights with the unknown.
DESCRIPTION - THE HIGH PRIESTESS is seated in a bench between two columns. Her crown is a New Moon, a Full Moon, a Crescent Moon and a Waning Moon. There is a rolled parchment in her hand and a cross in her chest. Behind her, there is the Veil of the Sanctuary, with pomegranates and palm trees embroidered.
The High Priestes represents SECRET KNOWLEDGE or HIDDEN WISDOM, aspirations and dreams of every human being.
The rolled parchment is the Tora or MOSES LAW, the five first books of TANAJ or the OLD TESTAMENT of the Bible, partially open, the hidden rest indicates that we can just decipher PART of the Mistery, that there will always be something HIDDEN.
The Veil of the Sanctuary, suspended between the COLUMNS of Bóaz and Yaquín, the Temple of SOLOMON, must be penetrated by the man to reconcile the OPOSITES on his nature and turn into ONE. Only when it is penetrated by Conscious Desires, there can be Creation. Only then, can there be EVOLUTION, which final goal is PERFECTION.
In the Bible, this Arcana is the story of the Virgin Mary, who gave birth to Jesus The Saviour, just like Isis gave birth to Horus the Savious and Sun God in the Ancient Egypt.
SYMBOLS
THE HIGH PRIESTESS has:
On top of her head, a crown, symbol of GOVERNMENT and AUTHORITY.
In her chest, a cross, union of MORE and LESS, symbol of fusion or UNION, of positve and negative (Male and Female).
In her hands, the Tora, symbol of GOD'S LAW.
THE VEIL OF THE SANCTUARY, adorned with pomegranates and palm trees of clear Freudian symbolism, they represent the INTACT HYMEN OF VIRGINITY. It's the "Porta Coeli" or Door to Heaven.
The black Bóaz column represents the negative principle of life, while the white one of Yaquín represents the positive principle.
In modern Psychology, the HIGH PRIESTESS symbolizes the VIRGIN UNCONSCIOUS.
